2018 Patient of the Year Nominee
Northern fur seal Mordanne was rescued near a busy highway in a deadly situation. He was starving, weak and very far from his ocean home.
During his admit exam, our veterinarians noted he was only 16 pounds, about half of what he should weigh at his age.
When patients like Mordanne are too young to eat whole fish, they are tube-fed a nutritious formula at first. Once Mordanne regained his strength, he started to dive and catch his own fish.
Mordanne steadily gained a healthy amount of weight during his care at the Center. He was released with a good bill of health, the skills he would need to survive in the wild and a second chance at life.
Thank you for your generous donation and for making a difference in the life of a marine mammal like Mordanne.
