Shamrock's Story
Shamrock, a northern elephant seal, pictured here with her pup, was admitted to The Marine Mammal Center suffering from weakness and a mild skin disease. After some much-needed care and rest, she was healthy enough to go back to the wild and was released at an elephant seal rookery in Point Reyes National Seashore.
Shamrock, like all of our patients, received a small orange identification tag which helped us spot her after she was released. Amazingly, a few years later, she was observed at Point Reyes National Seashore with a pup of her own, looking healthy and strong!
